I got up bright and early to participate in my Saturday ritual of cruising the garage sale scene. There are some people who refuse to do this because they feel that there is a "stigma" attached to garage sales. Something like "It's garbage, only trailer trash goes there, etc". People couldn't be more mistaken!
My parents got be hooked to this years ago. I have found that many people put a lot of quality things in their sales. Today, my mission was to find a working vacuum cleaner. We have been relying on this little "sweeper" that I think was designed more for hard floors than for carpeting. Needless to say, the animal fur was starting to give our country blue carpet a grey hue.
Anyway, I stopped at the first sale and these people must have been burnt. All their stuff was real junk (half used bottle of stuff) and they wanted more than what I could have paid for them in the store. Off I went to the next and there I found some great stuff. Never worn ladies' Eddie Bauer jeans for a dollar a pair.. still had the original tags. Grabbed them and really wanted to get a few other things, but I held back as I was still searching for my vacuum cleaner. Back on the road and when I stopped again, I hit the jackpot. Here, amongst the tools and plates and pillows was a Kirby vacuum cleaner. Only $5?!?! I asked what was wrong with it and the only thing was the little belt on the beater brush. I knew that I had one in the basement attached to my old Kirby. Happy, I loaded it up, came home and changed the belt. (I am a handy chick that way, I can fix almost anything. Comes from years of being "Daddy's little girl" and living on my own.)
So another week of garage sales is a success. Oh, and for all the people that are "too good" to go to them: THANKS! Leave all the good deals for me!
This is the reason why I do not use hotmail anymore:

1. What is your biggest pet peeve? Why? - Dumb people. I have absolutely no patience for people that have no brains. I enjoy having intellectual conversations with people and if we choose to act silly or dumb, it is just acting. Sounds conceited I know, but that is just how I am.
2. What irritating habits do you have? - I am a know-it-all. What is worse is that usually I am right. I even go so far as to look something up on the internet to prove my point. That bothers people because it makes them feel inferior to have someone know a lot of useless facts. Remember, as I stated in my "100 Things" I know most of the questions on Jeopardy! most of the time.
3. Have you tried to change the irritating habits or just let them be? - I really try to bite my tongue, unless what is being said is blatantly wrong or could cause harm. I am really polite about the way I do it though. Not like a "neener neener" attitude.
4. What grosses you out more than anything else? Why? - Body odor and bad hygiene. There's no reason in the world why anyone should have plaque-ridden teeth and the smell of sweat permeating the air around them. You can buy the travel size anti-perspirant for less than a buck, and baking soda and a finger will clean your teeth if you are really desperate.
5. What one thing can you never see yourself doing that other people do? - Passing gas in public. My "southern belle" attitude just won't let me do it. I know how to find my way to a bathroom.
Looks like someone else had the Blue Poop ala Pepsi Blue: John Bowman's Blog. Glad I am not the only one. We are both featured on this blog dedicated to Pepsi Blue.
American Idol - First and foremost, I am glad that Kelly won. I actually was terrified that America would go ahead and choose Justin. Don't get me wrong, he is talented, but sounds like every other male/boy band guy out there. I would love to see him develop his own style and become and individual. Note to Justin - Those curly locks do NOT make you different. I love 'em but leave them natural and smooth.. no more afro-puffing. Kelly has a way about her. Very genuine and I think she is cute. Her voice is amazing and I can only see her getting better with time. Note to people who say she is fat: Get a life! This chick is talented and I think she is very proportioned. Look at her! I hope that idiots like you don't wreck her self esteem and force her into an "Ally McBeal" state. Forget the media, it is morons like you that cause our little girls to have such a skewed self image.
Big Brother 3 - Marcellus is an ass. Plain and simple. I am expecting to hear him bray at any minute. While I am too cheap to pay Real Networks for the stream, I know people who do and I know that Marcellus has said in the diary room that he would never be friends with Amy outside of the house. What a two-faced little man. As for Roddy, I thought that everyone was giving him a raw deal until I saw how he was tonight after Amy did not use the power of veto to save him. To rake her over the coals and then have the audacity to kiss her on the forehead and then leave her there to cry was disgusting. Danielle makes me ashamed to share the name with her. One list that I belong to refers to her as Mrs. Evil and Jason as Mini-Danielle. She is just that... evil. To refer to another as "the devil" while all the time commiting the same "crimes" is as bad as you can get. I have no real favorites this time around. Last year I was an "Evil Doctor Will" fan. He was honest about being a liar, about playing the game. This year it seems that the whole house is on this "friendship first" kick. Wake up! It's a game! I guess I will have to root for Amy at this point. I really feel her pain. ;) I heard from a little birdie with the stream that Big Brother called Amy to the diary room while she was visably upset tonight and then the cameras cut to the front of the house. Wonder what that is all about.
Ok, that is my reality t.v. bitch and moan for the day. Thanks for tuning in.
This article taken from the Goderich Signal-Star has really pissed me off. Remember, I am an American living in the Great White North but this "young offender" crap here in Canada really pisses me off. I think that sick 16 year olds' names should be published. I mean, I was about ready to graduate high school and I knew right from wrong at age 16. This crime is so disturbing. Plus, if they are old enough to think up this perverse crime, they are old enough to suffer the consequences.
Boy convicted on charge in assaulted horse case
By Elizabeth Bower
The Goderich Signal-Star
The young offender convicted of mischief to property after helping to violate a horse with a broomstick, pleaded guilty in court in Goderich and was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 26 to three months open custody (to be served consecutively to the sentence he's now serving for an unrelated assault) plus 12 months probation. The boy, who turned 16 on the day of his sentencing Monday, will be under the supervision of a youth court worker, will not be able to possess any animal or bird and will continue to undergo counseling from another probation order.
In late April, 2000, Gerry Gaynor, from Goderich, found his four-year old racehorse, worth $25,000, with blood on her back and legs. A corn broom with a wooden handle was also missing from the 'H Barn' in the Goderich Agricultural Park. The horse had been taken from its stall and tied up to a second location, where she was assaulted with the broomstick, causing bruising and swelling of the vagina.
The horse, named Jetset Nana, survived the assault but had to be put down several months later due to chronic injuries resulting from the attack.
A female young offender also facing charges in relation to the incident is still going through trial. Her case will reconvene on Sept. 4 when the judge returns a decision on the admissibility of some evidence. An animal cruelty charge was changed to a mischief of property charge last March. The cruelty to animals charge had been declared a nullity because the charges had been laid more than six months after the event.
To make things worse, this was reported today:
Horse owner disappointed with system
By Elizabeth Bower
Signal-Star Staff
The young girl who faced charges in relation to the assaulted horse had her case dismissed yesterday.
The only evidence against the girl had been her statement to police that she was involved in the assault. Yet, she did not have a lawyer present during the statement so the evidence was thrown out. Although the girl will not see any jail time for this charge, she did spend nearly four months in jail for her failure to appear at least twice during her trial.
In April, 2000 a mare named Jetset Nana was assaulted with a broomstick in the Goderich Agricultural Park and was put down several months later due to chronic injuries from the attack.
Gerry Gaynor, the horse's owner, was visibly upset after the young girl was set free.
"I'm disappointed in the justice system," he said. "I'm out $50,000 in the deal and she's laughing now because she gets to walk. "We all know she's guilty, I mean she admitted to it, so it just doesn't seem right."
A male young offender was convicted last week for his involvement with the assault and was sentenced to three months open custody plus 12 months probation.
Maybe it is just me, but these sick little creatures that are less human (and humane) than the horse was deserve to be tied publicly to a tree and "violated" with broomsticks right up their little arses. Just my opinion.
I just saw Desiree's precious pooch on the back of a sofa acting like a cat, so I thought that I would post this to show that my sweet girl, Eddie, has the same identity crisis going on!
Chris and I moved into this old house in March of this year. We were thrilled to have gotten such an awesome deal on this place. All utilities as well as a washer/dryer/deep freezer included. The house has been renovated and added to many times over the years, but you can still tell that it is old. I have not done much research into the history of the house, but I do know that it was here not long after the turn of the century (the one before last ... 1899-1900). It has a very nice finished basement that we want to make into an extra bedroom out of it, but just have a little mattress and tv down there.
Although we have air conditioning, I thought that the cool dampness of the basement was relaxing and I decided to start spending nights down there. The first two were uneventful, but on the third night, odd things started happening.
Every time that I would fall asleep, I would hear a child yell "Rrrraaaggghh" in my ear. Nothing menacing, just like a child was playing to startle someone. I at first thought it was a dream until it happened about 10 times. I then could not get back to sleep so I closed my eyes and played "possem". I heard it again, and this time I knew that it was not just some figment of my imagination. Oddest thing was that I was not frightened. I just knew that I could not get a good night's sleep down there.
Needless to say, I have not slept down there again.
My cam service is down at the moment. I am currently looking for alternatives. I hope they come back because I have not found another service that is nearly as nice.
